Similar workshops were coordinated for Department of Labor (DOL) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) when Executive Order 13518 (Employment of Veterans in the Federal Government) was first signed.  Now they are available for any federal agency to bring in house.

ON-SITE WORKSHOPS

VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS

The government workshop is also available as a VIRTUAL workshop, whereby the content is covered in four individual web seminars on a schedule you determine. You may have up to 100 locations/individuals attend the sessions online! This is a great option when attendees are disbursed and budget and time away from the office are a primary concern. Payment of a speaker fee is required to reserve your requested dates/times for a virtual workshop.

LICENSE

All of the content offered in the government workshop can be licensed on a per-seat, annual basis as individual recorded web seminars.  This option is ideal as refresher training for those who have attended a workshop and as initial training for new recruiters, hiring managers and supervisors.

Veterans Recruitment Workshop for Government Employers

AUDIENCE: HR professionals, recruiters, diversity specialists, EE/AA compliance officers, and hiring managers.

PURPOSE: To gain information, motivation and direction to improve recruitment of military veterans and spouses.

FORMAT: The workshop for government employers includes the following topics:

  • Making the business case to have a military hiring strategy, use of special hiring authorities, and how to address the most common resistance arguments against hiring military
  • Understanding all your cost/low-cost/no cost sourcing options for finding veterans to hire
  • Marketing tactics for reaching the military and social media recruiting techniques
  • Developing a military-to-civilian skills crosswalk and translating the military occupational code
  • Understanding levels of responsibility and salary expectations by military grade
